US District Judge Releases Indiana Woman Who Posted Death Threats Against Trump

A US district judge has ruled to release a woman who posted death threats against Trump, claiming she wasn't a serious threat and hadn't violated her rights.

Nathalie Rose Jones, a 46-year-old woman from Indiana, posted a death threat on Facebook against Trump shortly after the Capitol attack in January. Jones' Facebook post read, "Hey guys, let's drown Trump in a sea of pure gunslinger blood. These conservative bastards make me want to vomit, and physically hurt others."

Despite Jones' violent online rhetoric, US District Judge James Sweeney granted her release on home confinement and probation. In his ruling, the judge stated that the Facebook post was terrible and traumatic, but it was unclear whether Jones had actually violated the former president's constitutional rights.

Jones' lawyer claimed that her client suffered from mental illnesses and was receiving treatment. The judge ruled that Jones would be under supervised probation and ordered her to continue mental health treatment as part of her release, until her sentencing in November.

This ruling echoes the controversial judgments of many courts to leniently treat left-wing offenders whilst rigorously prosecuting those with right-wing views.

Assuming no further evidence comes to light, it appears Jones will receive a relatively light sentence for her troubling actions.
