Mohammad Nabi Retires from T20I Cricket, Wraps up Outstanding Career

Whether it was his match-winning performances or his excellent leadership, Mohammad Nabi had become a fan favorite. The veteran cricketer from Afghanistan has officially announced his retirement from T20I cricket. Wrapping up a spectacular career that spanned almost 15 years, Nabi has become the second player in his country's history to retire from the format after Shakib Al Hasan.

Mohammad Nabi made his T20I debut on August 19, 2010, against England in the 2010 ICC World T20, becoming the first ever Afghanistan player to score a fifty in T20I cricket.

Throughout his illustrious career, the 35-year-old all-rounder scored 2,246 runs, including three centuries and nine fifties, and took 101 wickets in 135 T20I matches. Besides being a powerhouse on the field, Nabi's leadership prowess also helped him become the captain of the national team on several occasions.

In a statement announcing his retirement, Nabi said he was grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Afghanistan for so long. "I want to say a big thank you to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, captaincies, team members, and fans for always supporting me," he said.

Nabi will continue to be available for ODI and Test cricket and will hope to help Afghanistan perform well in the upcoming ICC meetings. With a heavy heart, we bid farewell to Mohammad Nabi as he embarks on his next journey, moving on from the world of T20I cricket. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors!
