On Tuesday, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's death anniversary, several leaders from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) paid floral tributes to the former chief minister at his statue in Gandhi Bomma Centre, Nellore.
Speaking at the event, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, YSRCP district president, reminisced about the late leader's development- and welfare-oriented administration. Govardhan Reddy highlighted the major development projects such as Sangam and Kandaleru barrages and Krishnapatnam Port that were initiated in the Nellore district during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure. He further credited the former chief minister for introducing welfare schemes such as Aarogyasri, fee reimbursement, Jalayagnam, and industrial SEZs, which accelerated the state's progress.
MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy also spoke on the occasion, remembering Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as a leader who brought recognition to Andhra Pradesh through his reforms in education, healthcare, agriculture, and employment.
Govardhan Reddy concluded the ceremony by praising Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, current chief minister, for continuing his father's vision over the past five years through even stronger welfare and development governance.
The YSRCP leader's death is remembered every year by thousands of Indians from all walks of life who pay tribute to his development-oriented leadership and welfare-driven policies.
