'To Be Wanted...': Donnarumma On Guardiola Move

Italy no.1 goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed for English powerhouse Manchester City on a five-year deal, and he has vowed to improve under manager Pep Guardiola. The deal is reported to be worth 15m (12.9m) plus around 9m (7.9m) in add-ons.

The 26-year-old, who helped Paris Saint-Germain to the Champions League title last season, was deemed surplus to requirements by Luis Enrique and was snapped up by City.

"I feel that I am at a turning point in my career," Donnarumma told City's website. "This is a choice that I had to make, I'm here to fight for the titles and to win them.

"I'm sure that I will improve a lot, playing under Guardiola, learning a lot from him, and alongside these teammates. I'm really happy to be here, and from now on, I will give everything to succeed."

City's succession plan for 36-year-old captain and no.1 goalkeeper Ederson is now clearer, with Donnarumma viewed as his long-term successor.

Donnarumma was handed his Italy debut by Roberto Mancini at just 17 years old and went on to play a key role as the Azzurri won Euro 2020 last year.

He has amassed 83 international caps and was also named Player of the Tournament at this summer's Confederations Cup, as Italy's Under-21s won the competition for the second time in a row.

He will compete with Zack Steffen for game time, with the American goalkeeper currently on loan at Middlesbrough. City also have English youngster James Trafford in their goalkeeping ranks, but he is expected to go out on loan.
