Hyderabad has been left shaken after a 14-year-old boy from the neighbourhood allegedly killed his 10-year-old female neighbour over the theft of a cricket bat. The girl's family alleges that the boy tricked the girl with a promise of a date and then slit her throat when she arrived at his house on the pretext of showing him a game. The boy, who returned home from school before killing her, allegedly tried to hide the body by setting it on fire in his backyard.
The girl's parents suspect the boy's family of forcing him to commit the crime, alleging that the boy was scared of his father, who often beat him. The boy's father is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment for schizophrenia. The boy has been charged with murder and is in police custody.
The case has shocked the community and prompted calls for improved safety in the area. Mayor Raion Singh Adla said, "We are devastated to lose a precious life to such a heartless crime. We are working with the police to make sure such heinous acts are not repeated."
The tragic incident sheds light on the need for increased awareness and support for juvenile delinquents, as well as the importance of community outreach to help prevent such senseless acts.
