Condolences and financial aid were among the sentiments expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the tragic stampede at a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) public meeting in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore on Wednesday. At least seven people were killed and an unknown number were injured in the melee, which occurred amid a rally organized by TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu.

Following the incident, Modi tweeted that ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh would be provided to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to each injured person. Office of the Prime Minister also tweeted the confirmation of the financial aid.
