RainDance: Heavy rains 'very likely' in Telangana, Coastal Karnataka

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana and Coastal Karnataka, predicting heavy rains in both regions. IMD advised residents to stay indoors and alerted them to be aware of traffic diversions and warnings for low-lying areas.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the police department have also been put on alert due to a forecast of heavy rains for the city of Hyderabad over the next couple of hours. Officials advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and warned residents of low-lying areas to be alert, and emergency teams have been prepared in case of flooding or related emergencies.

The alert also warned of high-speed winds in Coastal Andhra, predicting moderate to heavy rains in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, and Guntur districts.

Authorities are on high alert as the city is buzzing with festivities for Ganesh Chaturthi, and traffic police and authorities are working to control the crowd attending celebrations at various pandals, with particular attention to the famous Khairatabad Ganesh.

Imminent flooding and heavy rains alert authorities to implement emergency protocols and prepare rescue teams while advising residents to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel.
