Children stealing cricket equipment from neighbours is sadly not an uncommon occurrence in India. However, the tragic death of a female neighbour of a young boy in Hyderabad has highlighted the gravity of these deeds.

10-year-old Sahiti Walvekar was found dead in her house in Hyderabad after she was hit on the head with a cricket bat, allegedly by her 14-year-old neighbour. The teenager apparently took offence when Sahiti and her friends stole his cricket gear, a common occurrence between the young neighbours.

According to the police, the boy attacked Sahiti with a cricket bat, resulting in her death. The boy's father, shocked at his son's behaviour, immediately turned him into the police, who arrested the boy.

The tragic incident has shocked neighbours and highlights the seriousness of such seemingly harmless childhood rivalries.

"We have arrested the boy and are investigating the matter. The boy's father turned him into the authorities after he learned what had happened," said Hyderabad Police.
