Six elites, including businessmen, a homemaker, a software engineer, and an engineering student, were arrested after Cyberabad Police, in coordination with Telanganas elite anti-narcotics unit, raided a drug-fueled party at Rajeshwari Nilayam service apartment in Kondapur on the citys outskirts. Officers seized various drugs and sent six elites to jail, resulting in an intensified drive to curb the rising menace of rave parties and drug trafficking in Hyderabad.
For years, Hyderabad has been known as the drug haven of South India, surpassing other major cities such as Chennai and Bangalore. While drug abuse among the wealthy is not new, its manifestation in the elite circles of Hyderabad has caught the publics and authorities' attention, leading to this recent crackdown on August 26.
The arrest of six elites, including the mastermind Teja, a 28-year-old cloud kitchen business owner, sent shockwaves through the city. Teja, one of the arrested elites, sourced cocaine disguised as skin care injections via courier in Rajahmundry and circulated them at parties in Hyderabad, farmhouses, and even in Goa. Currently, police are searching for Rahul, a Bengaluru-based supplier, accused of supplying drugs to Teja.
The raid was carried out by Cyberabad Police in coordination with Telanganas elite anti-narcotics unit, Eagle. These authorities have been rigorously working to curb drug trafficking and abuse among the wealthy, with this raid being a stark reminder that no one is above the law.
