WhatsApp Scam Victimized Man Out of INR 7.6 Lakh

647 lakh rupees gone in a flash. That's how much Indian currency [$8,571 USD] one man from Uttar Pradesh lost in less than an hour after being tricked by a scammer operating on WhatsApp.

More precisely, the victim discovered that he had lost around 7.6 lakh [Indian currency] in 58 minutes after receiving a solicitation in a WhatsApp group promising astronomical returns of 800% per day.

The trickster, named Arshad, convinced the man to invest the enormous sum in a "safe" cryptocurrency scheme, alleging it was managed by their friend. Later, Arshad encouraged the victim to invest in another fraudulent scheme involving online transfers.

The victim, understandably traumatized by this incident, stated that he was convinced to make such a significant payment as Arshad was his "trusted contact" on WhatsApp.

This news highlights how scams exploiting trusting relationships and familiarity via social media platforms can result in significant financial losses, even when the sums involved come from someone earning a modest salary.

This incident demonstrates the importance of exercising caution when handling money, even when dealing with someone seemingly trustworthy.
