Cyber Crime Alert: Cyberabad Police Busts Online Fraud Ring

The Cyber Crime police wing of Cyberabad, Hyderabad, has arrested four individuals for allegedly committing fraud through various methods. These methods involve the use of bulk SMS services, fake websites, and the databases of prominent e-commerce and telemarketing companies. The arrest comes after a complaint was filed in November 2019, wherein the victim alleged that she was contacted regarding a lottery win of Rs. 7 lakhs or a car, after making a purchase on a prominent e-commerce website. The suspects extracted Rs. 2.3 lakhs from the victim by claiming it was for various charges to claim the prize.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the primary accused, Sandeep, had purchased databases and obtained message services and websites from Tausif Ahmed and Vikas Kumar. Additionally, Manikchand Paswan, a relative of Sandeep, assisted him in communicating with potential victims and extracting money from them. The police confiscated numerous items, including 12 mobile phones, 2 laptops, a car, fake identification cards, and 19 SIM cards, and 4 debit cards from the accused.

This serves as a cautionary tale to be vigilant and to thoroughly verify the authenticity of any online offers or communications before engaging with them.

Quote: "These arrests are a stepping stone to protecting the general public from online fraudsters. We urge the public to be cautious of any suspicious messages or emails and to report any incidents of online fraud to the appropriate authorities."

Conclusion: The police crackdown on cybercrime sends a clear message to potential perpetrators. The public is urged to be cautious and promptly report any instances of online fraud. By working together, we can create a safer online environment for everyone.
