Two-wheeler riders accounted for most of the 329 motorists caught drunk behind the wheel this weekend in Hyderabad. The city police conducted a special drive on Saturday and Sunday to prevent drunk driving during New Year's Eve.

The weekend special drive was conducted by the Hyderabad police at various places in the city. As per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court and the Telangana High Court, the police carried out the special drive to implement the law for preventing drunk driving.

The weekend drive netted 329 cases of drunk driving, with two-wheeler riders topping the list, with 186 cases. The police booked 177 four-wheel drivers and 18 auto drivers during the special drive. The weekend special drive was conducted at many important places and intersections in the city from 10 pm to 4 am.

Speaking to press, Officer Murthy thanked the citizens who co-operated with the police during these drives and requested all the public to follow the traffic rules and help the police in implementing the laws more effectively. He also requested the public to be alert and cautious while driving, especially during these holiday seasons, and not to indulge in drunk driving and cause harm to themselves and others.
