Tirumala, the sacred temple of Lord Venkateswara, is set to host its annual grand Brahmotsavams from September 24 to October 2, 2025. This year, the festival is expected to attract thousands of devotees worldwide. It is the most important festival in Tirumala, celebrated with unmatched grandeur and devotion.
The tradition of observing Brahmotsavams has a long historical background and has evolved over the years. In the 10th century, the Pallava Queen Samavai Perundevi initiated the practice of celebrating Brahmotsavams twice a year. Subsequently, the tradition changed under different rulers, introducing different variations of the festival. Until the 16th century, Brahmotsavams were celebrated almost every month, excluding two months when they were celebrated at the Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati. Today, Tirumala hosts Brahmotsavams once every year and twice during Adhika Masam. These are known as Salakatla Brahmotsavam and Navaratri Brahmotsavam.
This year's celebrations will include processions, vibrant rituals, and grand celebrations that will enliven the spiritual fervor of the temple town.
