George Weah to Spearhead Player's Voice Panel in FIFA's Fight Against Racism

The FIFA Players' Voice Panel is aiming to eradicate racism in football with George Weah, Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Briana Scurry among those joining the fight. This 16-member panel was formed by FIFA to support ongoing anti-racism and discrimination initiatives. These include player education programs and football governance reforms. The panel's focus will be to contribute their insights and experience to inform and empower potentially vulnerable individuals and communities.

FIFA expressed the importance of the fight against racism in football, especially in light of the Black Lives Matter movement that reached its peak when the former Paralympic champion, Oscar Pistorius, was accused of murdering another Black person, Reeva Steenkamp. This is a significant step in harnessing the power of football to combat racism and promote positive change.

The panel will be chaired by FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, Arsene Wenger, and will include representatives from across the footballing world, including former players, current players, coaches, and referees. Among them are Italy's Eniola Aluko, Spain's Ivan Amaya, and England's Luther Blissett. The panel will meet for the first time later in February.
