Shreyas Iyer To Captain India A In Two Unofficial Tests Against Australia A

India A's captain will be an interesting fight between rivalry and familiarity as Shreyas Iyer will look to lead his 'brothers' against Australia A's stacked bowling attack led by Sean Abbott.

The visiting Australia A team will travel to India next week to take part in two unofficial four-day Tests and three one-day matches. The series will begin on August 7 and will go on till August 15. India A and Australia A will face off in two four-day matches.

The first match will be played at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam from August 7 to 10, while the second match will be hosted by the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from August 13 to 16. The three one-day matches will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram from August 17 to 19 and August 21.

Shreyas Iyer, who led Mumbai in first-class cricket, will lead India A, with Rahul Dravid and Paras Mhambrey among the mentors. Dravid, who is the head of the National Cricket Academy, will oversee the tour alongside Mhambrey, India's fielding coach. India A named a 20-member squad led by Iyer, including hard-hitting openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal.

Australia A named a 17-player squad for the tour, with Mitchell Marsh named captain and Sean Abbott as the vice-captain. The squad includes five players who were part of Australia's recent tour of Sri Lanka, including spinners Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann along with pacers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Abbott.

Only two India A matches were played at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, with India A winning both games. The last time India A played a game in Bengaluru, India A scored a dominating first-innings lead of 312 runs before India B reached 79 for no loss in their second innings, with the game ending in a draw. Overall, it looks like a stacked tour with a competitive match-up between two 'brother' teams!

The unofficial Tests will be a fight of rivalry between experienced bowlers of Australia A and the explosive batting line-up of India A, captained by Iyer, led by the experienced Dravid.
