Canadian Ladies Coup in New York: Dabrowski, Routliffe Sink Siniakova-Townsend Duo For Second U.S. Open Doubles Crown

Erin Routliffe and Gabrea Dabrowski clinched their second US Open women's doubles title after defeating Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in straight sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Canadian duo, who won their first major title here last year, proved too strong for their American-Czech opposition, taking the match 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 25 minutes.

This is the second time Routliffe and Dabrowski have met Siniakova and Townsend, overcoming the same team at the 's-Hertogenbosch grass-court tournament in the Netherlands this July.

During the trophy ceremony, Routliffe told reporters that they concentrated on their serve and returned strongly, hoping to force errors from their opponents.

It was a bittersweet victory for Dabrowski, who commented that it was a sad moment for her as she was competing at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the last time before its controversial reconstruction begins.

The Canadian champions dedicated the win to the team they defeated in the previous final and expressed their desire to continue their successful partnership in the future.

This victory marks another milestone in Canadian dominance in US Open women's doubles over the years. WithKathleen Lobey and363 Mandy Juiling winning six titles and Bianca Andreescu claiming the singles title just last year. With control over the women's doubles throne in North America, the ladies continue to forge new frontiers for Canadian tennis.
