Empowering Women in Kerala through Self-Defence Training

The State Commission for Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Kerala, has announced that it will be providing free self-defence training to young women in the state to enhance their safety and confidence.

The initiative, which is being organized in collaboration with a local martial arts academy, will offer comprehensive training in various self-defence disciplines such as boxing, kickboxing, and martial arts. It aims to empower women by equipping them with essential life skills and the ability to defend themselves in potentially dangerous situations.

The program is specifically tailored to cater to the needs and challenges faced by women in their daily lives. The commission hopes that the program will empower women to not only protect themselves physically but also develop greater confidence and boost their mental resilience.

auditioned and 300 selected applicants will undergo a rigorous free three-month training session under expert coaches. Participants will also receive attendance certificates and graduation certificates on completion of the training.

"We want to empower women to protect themselves and not be afraid to walk alone, especially at night. We hope that this initiative will be a step towards creating a safer and more secure environment for women in Kerala.", said Minister K. Mini, the head of State Commission for Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Kerala.

The program has already received tremendous support and praise from the local community, with many calling it a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of women in the state.
