Hyderabad police have hired female constables to join the city's mounted force, a historic first marking gender inclusion in modern policing. Ten women completed two months of rigorous riding and field training, and will now work alongside their male counterparts in law-and-order maintenance, VIP security, crowd control, and city patrolling. The initiative has been praised by Commissioner of Police CV Anand, who expressed pride in Hyderabad police and hopes other states will follow suit.

Meanwhile, the police have also expanded their canine force, with a plan to increase the dog squad from 34 to 54, including 12 newly procured dogs in the first phase. After training at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy, the dogs will focus on explosive detection, narcotics interdiction, and criminal tracking to enhance smarter policing.

The construction of a new purpose-built facility, including horse stables, kennels for up to 60 trained dogs, and a vehicle impound yard, has been approved on 11.5 acres of land. These developments will improve the provision of comprehensive security for the city and its residents.

With the final phase of Ganesh idol immersion scheduled for this weekend, Hyderabad Police has lined up one of its most substantial deployments ever. Officials expect the festivities to pass smoothly with 29,000 police personnel manning the routes in shifts, with 50,000 idols alone expected at Tank Bund. To ensure this, 250 CCTV cameras and 6 drones will be monitoring the immersion.

Anand reiterated the ban on DJs, emphasizing that it was not a religious restriction but rather a public health measure due to high-decibel music causing deaths and illnesses in previous years.

With these comprehensive efforts, Hyderabad Police hopes to ensure the city's security and well-being during the festivities.
