Hyderabad City Police has made a significant advancement in gender equality and law enforcement with the launch of Indias first all-women mounted police platoon. The unit, comprising ten women constables from the Armed Reserve, has completed rigorous training to begin patrolling and maintaining order. The mounted platoon will be deployed for crowd control, VIP security, and regular patrolling, including upcoming Ganesh idol immersion processions. Furthermore, Hyderabad Police is also expanding its dog squad to enhance its criminal tracking and detection capabilities. The canine unit will grow from 34 to 54 dogs, specialising in explosives, narcotics, and criminal tracking. The authorities have also planned infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the expanding mounted unit and improved police facilities.
