Cybercrime is on the rise, and Telangana is fighting back with a new initiative. The state's Cyberabad Police, in collaboration with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), launched an awareness program called Project P.R.O.T.E.C.T (Preventing Risks Online Through Education, Collaboration and Training). Its aim? To reach one million people directly with essential education on cybersecurity through physical outreach at metro stations, bus stops, malls, offices, and eateries, as well as online via social media influencers and collaborative videos. Speaking to our correspondent, Commissioner Avinash Mohanty outlined the critical need for such a program, emphasizing the exponential rise in cybercrimes during the pandemic. Mohanty highlighted the voluntary nature of the project, saying that it has seen tremendous support from the Cyber Security Council, individuals, and students from several educational institutions. He expressed hope that the program would continue to gain momentum and reach as many people as possible.
