The 27th conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Andhra Pradesh has resolved to unite all Left and secular forces to combat rising communalism and nationalism in the state. Held in Nellore from February 1-3, the conference also urged the resistance of policies that allocate public funds to corporates while burdening citizens. The growing threat of communalism in the state was a major topic of discussion among delegates, who also emphasized the need to strengthen the Party's independent base and build Left unity. The party also vowed to unite all left and secular forces in the state to counter the growing tide of communalism and nationalism.
Attending the conference were 362 delegates and 101 observers, with 73% having faced arrests in different protests/agitations. A cultural festival was also organized in honor of the event, featuring a book exhibition, and the festival was inaugurated by the film director Tammareddy Bharadwaja.
The conference concluded with a public rally, with Mula Ramesh, CPI(M) Nellore district secretary chairing the meeting. Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat criticized the anti-people aspects of the central budget and exposed the hollowness of the finance minister's assurances. Addressing the harmful effects of BJP-led central governments on India's federal structure, she exhorted the TDP and Janasena parties to reconsider their alliance with the BJP.
