The Prime Minister expressed his condolences for the deaths of 7 people in a stampede at a public meeting held by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore on Wednesday. In a tweet, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

The incident transpired during a scuffle between party workers, ensuing in 7 deaths and several injuries, according to police.

In the wake of the tragedy, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakhs each to the families of the deceased. He also stated that the children of those who died will be admitted to NTR Trust educational institutions to ensure their education is not hampered.
