Farmer Distress: YSRCP Stages Demonstrations for Farmer Remunerative Prices, Masjid Imam Salaries

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a series of demonstrations in Nellore Sunday, demanding the government provide remunerative prices for farmers' produce and pay salaries for Masjid imams and other staff.

Leaders of the party's Nellore district, including MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, expressed solidarity with farmers and Muslim minorities, staging protests at various mosques in the district.

Chandrasekhar Reddy said the NDA alliance had promised to increase salaries for imams but had stopped paying entirely after coming to power. He demanded the amount paid during the previous YSRCP government be revived.

Chandrasekhar Reddy also promoted the Annadata Poru, a massive demonstration of farmers set for September 9, and pointed to the ongoing urea shortage as an example of the current government's indifference to farmers.

Party leaders and farmers will submit a representation to the District Collector on September 9.
