Young speeding killers

A night of celebration turned into a nightmare for five youngsters who ended up dead after their speeding car hit a parked lorry on the National Highway in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased, believed to be college students, were returning from Chennai where they had gone to celebrate the birthday of one of them.

Police said the driver, going at high speed, hit a lorry parked by the roadside resulting in the death of five people, two of them women, on the spot.

The victims were identified as Sangita, daughter of Srinivas Rao from Nellore city, Sri Lakshmi, daughter of Subba Rao from Vidya Nagar, besides Muka Sri Renuka, daughter of Muka Prasad, Muka Sri Lakshmi, and driver Krishna, all from Nellore.

On April 16, three people, including two women, were killed and two others injured in a similar accident near Musunuru toll plaza in Kavali of the same district when their speeding car hit a lorry from behind. (Title)
