Nursing Home Narcotics Theft Charges Sentence Dwyers

A registered nurse has been charged with multiple counts after reports of stolen narcotics at a Columbia County nursing home.

Edward Dwyer, a 56-year-old from Latham, faces charges related to the alleged theft of controlled substances from the Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The home reported multiple incidents of missing narcotics on July 26, 2022, prompting a joint investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement.

Dwyer, who was arrested on August 20, 2024, faces the following charges:

- One count of falsifying business records in the first degree, a class E felony

- Ten counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the first degree, a class E felony

- Three counts of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor

- Three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

- Three counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, a class A misdemeanor

Dwyer was released after being issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Livingston Court.
