Incidents of eve-teasing, lewd comments, and inappropriate gestures have risen in major city areas, including Mall Road and Ajit Road.

The police have reportedly failed to curb these incidents. Recently, three young men attempted to kidnap a woman from Giddarbaha near Fouji Chowk, a busy intersection, in broad daylight. The woman screamed for help, and the men ran off when onlookers appeared.

Police posts are located near this intersection, but they were unable to capture the suspects. Although a case was filed against the men, they remain at large.

Ajit Road has also witnessed several instances of eve-teasing in the past due to its numerous coaching institutes. Recently, a group of four young men chased two female students up to Fire Brigade Chowk, where police officers are stationed. They yelled sexual slurs at the women before escaping.

A girl filed a complaint with the police a few months ago, stating that four unidentified men in a car made inappropriate gestures at her and her friend while they were driving on Ajit Road. The men were charged with Section 354-D of the IPC and Section 12 of the POSCO Act at the Civil Lines police station.
