The Indian authorities had promised Choksi, arrested in neighboring Antigua and Barbuda in 2020, that he would be safe and given comfortable living conditions if he was extradited to India.

Choksi will be housed in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail, and the Indian government has provided assurances of comfort to Belgium, reflecting its plan to provide furnished separate living conditions with personal space, bedding, drinking water, and bathroom access, as well as daily exercise and healthcare, the Indian Express reported.

The jail has also reserved a special cell for him with these facilities.
