Hyderabad to Receive Additional Water as Part of River Rejuvenation Plan

Hyderabad's efforts to rejuvenate the Musi River is set to receive a boost with the addition of 17.5 trillion million cubic feet of water. Laying the foundation stone for this initiative, authorities aim to enhance the city's water supply and improve the ecosystem of the river. With an investment of over 1,200 crore, the project will be funded by the Telangana government and the Asian Development Bank.

The project plans to introduce a new pipeline network and bulk water supply terminals to provide additional water to the city. This development will occur in conjunction with the rehabilitation and restoration of the Musi River, improving the overall water management system in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the ceremony, Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary of the Industries & Commerce and Information Technology Departments, emphasized the importance of this initiative for the people of Hyderabad and the environment. He expressed gratitude to the government and all stakeholders for their efforts in making this project a reality.

This plan is a comprehensive approach to address the city's water management needs. By ensuring a reliable supply of water, the project will aid in cultivating a healthier ecosystem around the Musi River. The river, which flows through Hyderabad, has been the source of many pollution-related concerns and unsustainable practices. This project sets the stage for a new era of environmental awareness and strategic planning.
