Not Jadeja! Mohammad Kaif Says India Will Miss This Spin-Bowling Allrounder At Asia Cup

India is set to miss Spin-bowling all-rounder, Washington Sundar at the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, and former player Mohammed Kaif feels India will feel his absence. The Asia Cup 2022 will be held in the UAE, starting on August 27, 2022, with the final scheduled for September 11, 2022.

Washington Sundar, who scored a crucial 62-runs against Australia in the semi-final of the recent T20 World Cup, has been included in India's list of players for the upcoming Test matches against Australia but has been left out of the Asia Cup 2022 squad. Due to his impressive performance at the T20 World Cup, Washington Sundar has been praised by many, and Mohammed Kaif is among those who feel his absence will affect the team.

Speaking to ABP News, Mohammed Kaif said, "The team management told me that Washington Sundar will be playing the Test matches against Australia. He is unable to participate in the Asia Cup due to injury. Every tournament requires a different skill set, and I am hoping he will do well in Tests."

"But, yes, when it comes to the limited-overs format, he (Washington Sundar) has the ability to change the game with both his batting and bowling, and India will miss him (at Asia Cup 2022)," he added.

Despite being just 23 years old, Washington Sundar has already made his mark as an all-rounder and ensures notable contributions whenever he plays for India. His absence from the Asia Cup 2022 will certainly be a miss and may impact India's performance at the tournament.

However, with a strong squad also announced for the Asia Cup, India will be hopeful of retaining the title despite missing Sundar's skills.
