Hyderabad's Epic Ganesh Immersion Procession Ends Peacefully With Over 1.40 Lakh Idols Immersed

The colossal Ganesh immersion procession in Hyderabad, Telangana, spanning 40 hours, has concluded peacefully, leaving approximately 1.40 lakh idols submerged in various ponds and lakes across the city. The 10th and final day of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations witnessed the immersion of 4,700 idols, surpassing the numbers of the previous eight days. Remarkably, authorities registered only 12,030 idols in Hyderabad City for immersion, indicating an impressive turnout for the festival.

The police chief CV Anand extended his gratitude to the Ganesh Utsav Samithi, the organisers, and the public for ensuring a peaceful conclusion to the festival. He emphasised that the immersion would be deemed complete only after the removal of traffic diversions. Although some procession organisers commenced late, all idols successfully found their way to Hussain Sagar, and the immersion proceeded without public inconvenience, according to the police chief.

The immersion process was underway for 40 hours, with 9 drones and 35 high-rise building cameras monitoring the event. Minor disputes led to five cases being registered, with 170 arrests for misbehaviour and pickpocketing. Overall, the commissioner stated that the number of crimes decreased compared to last year.

Hyderabad City Police expressed gratitude to all involved and lauded the collaboration between the Central Zone Police and departments such as the GHMC, Revenue, Electricity, RTA, and HMDA for the smooth and successful culmination of the Ganesh immersion.
