Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria sailed into the quarterfinals of the World Women's Boxing Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. This came after an impressive 5-0 victory over Ukrainian Marharyta Kotsylova in the lightweight (60kg) division.
In other victories for India, Abhinash Jamwal made it to the quarter-finals in the men's 81 kg division by beating American Steven Andrade in a split decision of 3-2.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing end for Sanamacha Chanu and Sakshi Chaudhary, who both exited the championships with defeats in the pre-quarterfinal bouts.
The middle weight boxer, Sanamacha, lost to top seed and 2018 World Championships silver medallist, Harriet Withers of Australia. Meanwhile, Sakshi, who featured in the featherweight (57 kg) division, lost to Moroccan Oumayma Bel Ahbib in a tightly-contested contest.
With Jaismine Lamboria through to the quarterfinals, let's see if she can continue this impressive streak and bring more medals home for India.
Stay tuned for more updates on the World Boxing Championships.
