PM Modi to Launch Health Drive for Women and Children

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will launch a nationwide health drive for women and children on September 17, with the goal of boosting healthcare accessibility and family well-being. Over 75,000 health camps will be set up across the country over the next few weeks. This initiative aims to strengthen health care for mothers and children, as well as to encourage preventive healthcare and holistic nutrition for the family as a whole.

According to recent surveys, India boasts the highest malnutrition rate in the world, with nearly 35% of children below the age of five years suffering from anemia. Furthermore, in a nationwide study, only 12% of the children had normal weight, while 48% were underweight and 40% were stunted (too short for their age).

To address these pressing health issues, the 'Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan' (Healthier Women, Empowered Family Initiative) will provide nutritional advice, as well as screen for and create awareness about malnutrition.

The campaign will be jointly launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Women and Child Development Ministry, and the Indian Government's Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

With these large numbers of health camps, India is showing its commitment to creating a healthier nation for its most vulnerable populations. The camps will go a long way in raising awareness about the importance of healthcare and nutrition.

Stay tuned as we follow up on the impact this initiative has on bringing vital healthcare resources to women and children all across India.
