India bowling coach Morne Morkel has expressed his confidence in Kuldeep Yadav ahead of the Asia Cup, noting that the spinner's professionalism and competitive relationship with Varun Chakaravarthy will be advantageous for India in the United sphere Cup.

Kuldeep Yadav's preparation and competitiveness amidst his competition with Varun Chakaravarthy for India's spinner slot in the UAE will be beneficial for the team, believes India bowling coach Morne Morkel. "It's great to have those two guys pushing each other in the squad," Morkel said ahead of India's pre-Asia Cup camp in Dubai. "It brings the best out of both of them. Kuldeep is a very professional guy, knows what to do to get ready for a tournament. Whatever settles best into the team, then we'll decide who plays."

The comments came after Yadav, who last played for India in March 2022 in a T20I against South Africa, was included in the team's 16-member squad for the Asia Cup.

Yadav and Chakaravarthy, along with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, are expected to lead India's spin attack in the UAE. The Asia Cup will be held in the UAE September 2023, with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka being the top contenders alongside India.
