Jitesh, Dube's teamwork scrutinized at India nets

Their teamwork was put to the test at India's net practice session.

A cautious India is leaving no stone unturned ahead of the start of the T20I series against South Africa on Thursday, with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and pacer Jasprit Bumrah set to be tested during net sessions to determine their participation in the series.

Pant, who suffered a knee ligament injury during a practice session after the Test series in Australia, has made recovery progress, but his participation in the series will be decided after assessments on his fitness. Pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have already been ruled out of the series, while Bumrah has been added to India's T20I squad after he missed the ODI leg due to a back injury.

Bumrah, who is currently recovering from his back injury, bowled at India's nets on Wednesday, alongside pace bowler Jaydev Unadkat, while Pant also took knocks during the session, according to Cricbuzz.

The pair was watchful of their deliveries, and their respective contributions will be closely monitored when India takes the field for their first net session on Thursday ahead of the series opener in New Delhi.

With the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli already firing on all cylinders during the ODI leg, the onus will be on Pant and Bumrah to click immediately if they're cleared for action, as India's middle-order muddle and the absence of a senior pace bowler could affect the team's T20I balance.

The team management will take a cautious approach and monitor the duo's progress over the next few days before taking a final call on their availability for the series, which consists of three matches.

The upcoming T20I series is also part of the ICC World Cup Super League, where India has gathered 16 points from four games (three wins and one loss). The team will be looking to continue their winning streak to solidify their spot atop the points table.
