The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana and Coastal Karnataka, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days. Hyderabad is predicted to receive heavy rains within the next couple of hours, with authorities alerting the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and police departments to mitigate the potential damage.

Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and be aware of traffic diversions and warnings regarding low-lying areas. This alert comes as Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations begin today, with the city already bustling with activity. Authorities and traffic police are especially on alert to manage the crowds flocking to various pandals, with traffic diversions in place to control the masses, especially those heading to see the celebrated Khairatabad Ganesh.

Similarly, Coastal Andhra has also been warned about the likelihood of high-speed winds and moderate to heavy rains in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, and Guntur districts. The state and local authorities are on high alert to deal with potential calamitous circumstances.
