The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police recently arrested three individuals from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh for their involvement in a digital arrest fraud case. The accused, Thota Srinivasa Rao (59), Lam Jeevankumar (38), and Tammishetty Raghuveer (40), were involved in a sophisticated scam that targeted victims across India. The police identified the accused after one victim, Veeraboina Sai Raj, reported that he was duped by these cyber fraudsters who impersonated a head constable from Mumbai and convinced him to transfer Rs. 3,57,998 to their bank accounts. The accused would then impersonate as bank officials and cheat him to the tune of the amount. The Hyderabad Police have advised citizens to be cautious of unknown numbers and to report similar scams to the authorities. The police also advised citizens to verify the authenticity of any business deals and to not fall prey to any lucrative offers.
