Chennai Cocaine Seizure Valued at Rs 60 Crore, Two Arrested

Chennai airport witnessed a significant cocaine bust, with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seizing 5.618 kg of the drug valued at an estimated Rs 60 crore. Two Indian nationals, one from Uttarakhand and the other from Himachal Pradesh, were arrested in connection with this operation. It was discovered that the two individuals had made multiple trips from Addis Ababa to various airports in India to traffic cocaine over the past few years, as part of a larger transnational drug syndicate.

The NCB has since detained a Nigerian national in Delhi, who was involved in distributing the cocaine, as well as an Indian member of the syndicate from Mumbai. Overstaying on a Medical visa, the Nigerian national was also involved in setting up a distribution channel for cocaine from Delhi.

Further investigations are underway to identify and arrest all other members of the syndicate and to ascertain the financial trail. This recent drug bust sheds light on the alarming issue of foreign nationals' involvement in drug trafficking activities in India.
