Petrol, Diesel Fresh Prices Announced: Check Rates In Your City On September 9

India's fuel consumers are in for a treat today as petrol and diesel fresh prices have been announced across the country. You can check the rates in your city, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Following a hike last week, this is the second decrease in fuel prices this month.

The price of petrol in Delhi is now 97.81 per liter, while in Mumbai, it is now 99.58 per liter. In Chennai, a liter of petrol will cost you 100.63 per liter.

Diesel prices have also decreased. The new price of diesel in Delhi is 89.18 per liter, in Mumbai 89.79 per liter, and in Chennai 90.93 per liter. The prices are applicable from 6 am on September 9.

This news comes after the Indian rupee gained against the US dollar for the third consecutive day on Monday, supported by a rally in global markets.

This decline in fuel prices across the country will hopefully have a positive impact on the lives of Indians, giving them some relief in these trying times.

The decline in fuel prices is a result of the dynamic pricing mechanism introduced by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) council in 2017, which aims to reflect changes in international oil prices and exchange rates. The mechanism allows fuel companies to modify fuel prices based on changes in the input cost. This, in turn, is influenced by the price of crude in the international market and the value of the Indian rupee against the dollar as both are traded dynamically.

The GST council has also reduced taxes on fuel, effective from July 1, 2017, in the latest update. Petrol has become cheaper by Rs. 1.06 per liter, and diesel has become cheaper by Rs. 0.77 per liter. This is the first decrease in fuel prices this year.
