Flood crisis unseen in decades

Andhra Industries Minister Mekapati Goutam Reddy has visited Veerlagudipadu village in Nellore's Sangam mandal to assess the flood situation. The Minister traveled by boat to reach the affected area and listen to residents' concerns. Reddy noted that the volume of water in the Penna River has not been this high since 1995. Officials informed the minister that the convergence of the Pincha, Cheyyeru, and Swarnamukhi rivers caused the flood situation.

Assuring aid and relief, Reddy stated that each villager will receive house pattas, and he has directed officials to ensure aid timely reaches the flood victims. Over 4.5 lakh cusecs of water are presently flowing in the Penna river, said officials.

The Minister assured villagers that a bridge would be built and reviewed the provisions made for affected villagers, including food.

Next Steps: Based on the Minister's assessment, officials will likely continue to oversee emergency response and relief, coordinating between various agencies to ensure the timely provision of aid and rehabilitation.
