Older iPhones Soon to Be More Affordable in India

With the launch of the latest iPhone 17 slated for tomorrow, last year's flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max can be yours for under Rs. 1 lakh.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is Apple's current flagship phone in India, launching at an elevated price of Rs. 1,29,990 indian rupees. Typically, when a new iPhone launches, the previous generation's phone sees a price drop globally and in India. While this has not happened yet, temps have cooled off in India, which suggests a price drop is imminent.

This speculation is fueled by the fact that Apple's Malaysian website inadvertently posted and then deleted the pricing for the iPhone 17 lineup. This pricing shows that the entry-level iPhone 17 Pro Max will start at USD 999, or Rs. 81,787.39 when directly converted. This poses a problem for Apple, as the idea behind the iPhone 14 lineup was to offer affordability in the mid-range market for Apple fans.

While the iPhone 16 Pro Max is still competitively priced in India, more so than other markets, a price drop will make it more appealing. Especially when the new iPhone 17 launches tomorrow the cheapest model will be significantly cheaper than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
