Water Scare: Corporators Fight Bogus RO Plants as Viral Fevers Rampant

As viral fevers sweep through the city, the Corporators of Nellore municipal corporation have taken action against bogus Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants on Monday.

Amidst a growing dependency on RO plants for drinking water due to water scarcity, Corporator Kartham Pratham Reddy of the 14th division (Balaji Nagar) has denounced these bogus plants in the city. He alleges that many RO plant organizers collect water from unsafe sources like municipal taps and pumps, which then endanger people with water-borne diseases.

Many RO plants do not have the mandatory International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) certification issued by the government to operate. These corporators urge the municipal authorities to conduct surprise inspections of these plants to prioritize public health.

Such an inspection is necessary as these health hazards compound the problems for the people in Nellore.
