Fertility Doctors Arrested in Hyderabad Surrogacy Centre Scam

In a shocking case of medical malpractice, three doctors have been suspended and arrested in relation to the fraudulent activities occurring under the umbrella of the Universal Srushti Fertility Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana. The centre has been accused of violating both the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.

The three doctors, who were employed at government medical colleges, have been suspended from their duties effective from the date of their arrest last month. The state government, specifically the Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, has expressed that the continuation of these doctors in their positions would impede the ongoing investigations. Officials explained that the doctors were suspended according to the instructions of the Minister when he enquired about the cause of delay in taking action against the doctors, despite reports of their arrest surfacing in August.

Officials tried to contact the doctors, all of whom have been absent from their duties for some time, without any prior notice. The principals of the medical colleges met the same response when they attempted to reach the doctors.

The police have made progress in their investigation of the fertility centre, and have arrested several doctors and employees.
