According to police reports, seven Telugu Desam Party workers lost their lives in the stampede that occurred during a public meeting led by TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. The incident occurred when a scuffle broke out between workers, causing panic among the crowd.
PM Modi tweeted that he was pained by the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also noted that he hopes the injured will recover soon. In addition to the ex-gratia, Naidu announced that each family of the deceased would receive Rs. 10 lakhs, and the children of those who were killed in the tragedy will be educated in NTR Trust educational institutions, according to ANI.
