Rising Food Prices: Dealer Warning On Urea Availability

Recently, the Prakasam District Collector, Thameem Ansari, clarified that there is no shortage of urea in the district.

She stated that the government had allocated sufficient quantities and even outlined the channels through which it had distributed it.

70% of urea is supplied through PACS and RSK, while the other 30% is through private dealers.

Ansari urged dealers to work with the administration to enforce the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) of 1985 which prohibits the sale of urea above the maximum retail price (MRP).

She warned that any violations would invite strict legal action.

Ansari said that special inspection teams have been formed to monitor fertiliser outlets and safeguard farmer's interests.

She insisted that dealers must issue bills for every purchase and that fertiliser availability and prices must be displayed at shops and updated regularly on the IFMS portal.

Joint Collector Gopalakrishna assured dealers that the government would look into any of their issues and that agriculture officials would educate farmers on fertiliser usage as recommended by scientific research.
