After weeks of celebrations, Hyderabad is ready to bid adieu to Lord Ganesh with the grand procession of Ganesh Visarjan. To ensure a safe and smooth festival, the authorities have beefed up security in the city and also restricted traffic movements in some areas. The main procession route is from Balapur Katta Maisamma Temple to Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma Railway Bridge, Aliabad, Charminar, Afzalgunj, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty, Ambedkar Statue, NTR Marg, and PVNR Marg (Necklace Road).
According to officials, no other traffic will be allowed on the main routes between 6 am on September 6 and 10 am on September 7. However, this does not mean that other traffic movements will be completely barred from entering these routes, they will just have to take alternative routes to reach their destinations. Meanwhile, people who would like to participate in the procession can park their vehicles near NTR Stadium, Katta Maisamma Temple, Lower Tank Bund, Public Gardens, Behind Buddha Bhavan (Necklace Road), Adarsh Nagar Road (via Kalanjali), BRK Bhavan & GHMC Office Road, Institute of Engineers, Khairatabad, and MMTS Khairatabad.
According to The Siasat Daily, around 25,000 police personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the festival. This deployment also takes into account the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to visit the city on September 6. So, as the city gears up for the grand procession of Ganesh Visarjan, the cops are on their toes to ensure public safety and security.
