The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana and Coastal Karnataka, warning of heavy rains in both areas. Hyderabad is also expected to be hit by heavy showers over the next couple of hours, with officials advising residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to remain aware of traffic diversions and warnings regarding low-lying areas.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the police department have both been alerted to the heavy rain forecast. With Ganesh Chaturthi beginning and festivities underway, authorities are especially careful of the traffic complications from the crowds visiting pandals.

The IMD tweeted that Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall with isolated Extremely Heavy Rainfall is likely at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana. Coastal Andhra has also been warned to face the high-speed winds.
