Farmers in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district agitated against the state government, protesting the revocation of their agricultural land for a housing scheme.
The villagers appealed to the Collector, local MLAs, and MRO by filing a petition not to take the land in the acquisition. One woman, a Dalit, claimed that their troubles began after Jagan came to power, alleging that officials did nothing to resolve the issue and that police threatened them daily to vacate the land.
She added that their families had utilized the land for agricultural purposes for over 60 years. The woman emphasized that the government could have taken unused government land in the area if it genuinely wanted to aid the underprivileged.
However, officials sent to resolve the problem did nothing and only collected Rs 20,000 for every cent. According to the woman, the land was the only thing they had left, and its seizure would force them to vacate.
Numerous protesters threatened to commit suicide if the government proceeded with the acquisition, considering it an "injustice."
