Dhinakaran adamant to defeat Palaniswami as CM candidate

Detailing a media conference today, Dhinakaran asserts his party members will not get behind CM Palaniswami, calling him a 'betrayer' and outlining a series of allegations against the current CM.

Dhinakaran, head of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) party, has iterated that he would accept anyone other than current Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami as the CM candidate in the upcoming state elections, according to sources.

Speaking at a media conference today, Dhinakaran alleged that Palaniswami had betrayed the former's late boss and former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, and also betrayed the trust of the people of Tamil Nadu. He also accused Palaniswami of betraying the AIADMK, of which he was once a member and had risen to prominence.

Dhinakaran alleged that Palaniswami had also tricked him into merging his own party, the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, with the AIADMK, before betraying him and stripping him of his positions within the party.

Allegations of corruption against the CM and his deputy, O. Panneerselvam, were also cited, with Dhinakaran urging Panneerselvam to come forward and lead the state with dignity, as the people of Tamil Nadu deserve better.

Dhinakaran also reportedly said his party cadre would not accept Mr. Palaniswami, whom he called a betrayer, as the Chief Ministerial candidate. The party is preparing to contest all seats in the upcoming election, a move that could spell a significant shake-up in Tamil Nadu politics.

Only time will tell whether Dhinakaran's allegations will gain traction with the Tamil Nadu electorate.
