Shock Exit for PV Sindhu at Hong Kong Open

Indian superstar P.V. Sindhu suffered a shock exit from the Hong Kong Open Super 500 after going down to unseeded Danish player Line Christophersen in the quarterfinals on Friday. Sindhu, who was looking to continue her impressive run of form, lost 21-16, 16-21, 13-21 in a hard-fought contest lasting one hour and 13 minutes. This was the first time Sindhu and Christophersen faced each other.

This result ends Sindhu's chances of becoming the World No. 1 shuttle player, as she had clinched the World Championships title in Spain last month. Sindhu came into the match against Christophersen with a 5-0 record against the Dane's countrywomen. However, Christophersen's agility and tactics gave Sindhu too much to handle, as the Indian made a whopping 51 unforced errors in the match.

This shock exit has left Sindhu's fans longing for more, especially since she had recently returned to training with her former coach Park Tae-sang.

The Dane will next face the formidable Tai Tzu-ying, who has had a relatively easy run until the quarterfinals. Can Tai Tzu-ying maintain her clean record, or will the Danish underdog cause another upset? We'll have to wait and see
