The Hyderabad City Police recently conducted a runathon titled "Run for Action-2025" in recognition of International Women's Day. Over 5,000 students participated in the event, which was held at People's Plaza in Hyderabad. The goal of the run was to promote women's safety and empowerment.
Speaking to ANI, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand stated that the event was held to both celebrate International Women's Day and to raise awareness of the pressing need for acceleration of action on women's safety and women's empowerment.
The Central Railways also celebrated International Women's Day by operating a Vande Bharat Express with an all-women crew for the first time ever.
Speaking to ANI, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Central Railways confirmed that they had also taken the initiative to operate a goods train with an all-women crew, and that they hoped to continue this initiative on other Vande Bharat trains as well.
Loco Pilot Mail Surekha Shankar Yadav, Train Manager Passenger Shweta Ghone, and Train Hostess Rubina Begum expressed their joy at being given the opportunity to be a part of this initiative, with Yadav stating: "I am happy that I got an opportunity to be a part of this team. I wish all women a Happy Women's Day."
Shweta Ghone stated: "This is a proud moment for us... If a woman can perform a hard task like giving birth, then what can't she do? Society needs to understand this."
These initiatives from the Hyderabad City Police and Central Railways hope to continue to shed light on the importance of women's safety and empowerment in Indian society.
